Getting started
Congratulations and thanks for considering Akimbo for your special occasion. Our aim is to create an invitation that will set the tone for your wedding day and is a true reflection of you as a couple.
Inspiration
By now, you and your fiance will have made some decisions about your venue, time of year and type of celebration. If you are planning a glam black-tie affair then those bright mix-tape invitations won't work and a traditional white calligraphy invitation to your casual backyard bash will be similarly confusing to your guests. Seasons provide a wealth of inspiration; Spring flowers are always a popular choice, but also imagine fallen leaves in rich Autumn (Fall) colours, stunning silhouettes of bare trees, and hot sand and seashells underfoot. Consider your venue; perhaps it has a breathtaking view of city lights, or ivy creeping up the stone walls, or a stunning chandelier in the foyer. More importantly, consider your own personalities and interests. The globetrotting pair will love a travel-inspired theme, while the computer-game invitation will appeal to the geeky couple. How about incorporating the story of how you met in the queue at Starbucks or that he proposed to you while bikeriding, or your planned honeymoon in Africa.
Design options
We have three options. Check out our standard catalogue of styles to see if one is just right for you. If there is one that's almost perfect, we can tweak the colours, font, format or other details so that it's customised for you. If you want something that's truly unique, contact me to discuss a bespoke design.
Extras
Consider any other printed materials you will need, such as save-the-date cards, envelopes, thank you notes, ceremony programs, place cards, seating charts, menus and favour tags. While you will not require many of these items as early as the invitations, it will provide significant savings for you due to the more efficient production and postage, so I highly recommend ordering your entire suite and extras at once. I have popular styles available but would love to help you with a custom design.
Wording
Consider your invitation wording. There are many options to cater for different family situations and levels of formality. Bridal magazines, wedding websites and etiquette books are great resources if you need some help. You will need to supply the copy in a Word or Text document exactly as you wish it to appear. All initial consultations and quotes are free of charge, however a 50% deposit is required prior to the commencement of any design work.
Proof
I will promptly supply you with a digital proof, to which you will be entitled two revisions. Make sure you proofread it very carefully, paying special attention to names, dates and numbers. It's a good idea to have a couple of pairs of fresh eyes look over it too to make sure.
Production
Upon your approval, your vision will become reality using the most appropriate production method.
Delivery
Once final payment has been received, your invitations will be carefully packaged and sent as soon as possible after production.
Follow-up
It's hard sending my little babies out there in the world never to hear from them again, so I would love to see any photos of Akimbo products in use at your big day. In order to continually improve my service and products, I also appreciate your thoughts and feedback.
Thanks again for considering Akimbo. If you have any further queries, check out the Frequently Asked Questions or contact me.
